There are some notable Non-Profit Societies which are politically active in the Cowichan Valley. These Non-Profit Societies also receive taxpayer funding.

Social Planning Cowichan

Legal name: Cowichan Social Planning Society. Duncan Mayor Michelle Staples is the current Executive Director.

Social Planning Cowichan created the Cowichan Housing Association in 2015 and still has a reserved seat on the Cowichan Housing Association Board of Directors. That seat is currently occupied by Chris Hall, who is also on the Board of Directors of Social Planning Cowichan and is President of the Cowichan Green Community Foundation.
